SOME top local musicians are planning a marathon concert
to remember. The all new Rugby Music Festival takes place at Rugby Lions ground in Webb Ellis Road
on Saturday, June 7 from 6pm til midnight.

Organiser James Rai said: "This is the result of the keen desire from artists and local music enthusiasts looking for a significant event to showcase themselves in their hometown.

"Rugby Music Festival is the first of its kind completely dedicated to showcasing home grown artists from the town.

"Rugby has always had deep musical roots so hopefully this is something that the community can get behind and celebrate."

The eight live acts performing will cover several genres of music including rock, indie, punk, acoustic and pop.

The line up includes:

No Remote - who have featured heavily in Kerrang magazine.

Mesch - a hungry and energetic rock act that always try to get the crowd involved.

No More Heroes - a new four piece act. They play contemporary, almost avant-garde music.

Treefingers - a young indie act influenced by Radiohead, The Velvet Underground and The Smiths.

Auntie Alfie's Medicinal Cabinet - the most mature of the acts playing demonstrating their knowledge of music with a mix of swirling psychedelic keyboards, rock-solid funky rhythm and sonic buzz saw guitar.

Matt Parsons - a singer/songwriter who has released an EP called 'Coloured Gifts' through Leftarm Records. Armed with this success, he has travelled twice to Spain to shoot music videos with director Miguel Eek.

Leanna Kerry - an acoustic performer writes her own material as well as putting her own take on tracks from popular artists such as Gnarls Barkley and Snow Patrol.

Tickets are £5 advance and £7 on the day. They can be purchased from Sounds Guitar shop on Church Street, Bailey's Hairdressers located in Lawrence Sheriff Street and the Rugby Lions Club, Webb Ellis Road.
