A BENEFIT fraudster who stole more than £48,000 claimed someone else was working under her name after stealing her identity.

Claudette Ruddock has pleaded guilty to illegally claiming income support, housing benefit and council tax benefit and is due to be sentened tomorrow (Thursday).

The 43-year-old lived in two addresses while working in the hotel trade - one in Millbeck, Brownsover and the other in Manchester.

She was interviewed by the Department for Work and Pensions and by Rugby Borough Council, and initially denied working, claiming someone had stolen her identity.
