A CAR crashed into a house in Rugby, trapping the resident in her own home.

Police were called to Oliver Street at 2.14am yesterday (Thursday) after the householder reported she couldn't get out of her front door.

Shortly afterwards police received a further call from another resident in Oliver Street saying that the car had collided with his house as well.

A 29-year-old woman from Wigston, Leicestershire was arrested in Corporation St Rugby on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle with alcohol above the legal limit and failing to report a road traffic collision.

She has been released on bail, pending further police enquiries.

A 37-year-old man from Yelvertoft, Northampton was also arrested but later released without charge.

Following the collision a wooden framed window had to be boarded up.

The Peugeot 206 silver saloon car was recovered from the front of the house.
