BANK robbers stole a huge amount of money in a night time raid as revellers looked on in amazement.
The brazen gang attacked security guards who were delivering cash to the Nationwide Building Society in High Street at about 9.20pm on Friday - just yards away from packed pubs.
After being threatened with a crow bar, one of the two security guards making the delivery locked himself in a safe room. The other guard who was outside the bank at the time, sought help.
Police said they took a 'substantial amount of money' and cordoned off most of the town centre.
The four men got away in a red Audi S4 saloon parked between Windsor Court and the Merchant Inn pub.
The vehicle was found abandoned at 1pm on Sunday in Burnside, off Westfield Road, Rugby, and has been recovered for scenes of crime officers to examine.
Officers are checking CCTV footage and are keen to hear from anyone who can describe the offenders.
Officers are also asking for anyone who may have witnessed the vehicle being abandoned in Burnside at the end of Westfield Road in Rugby to please come forward.
