Rugby Canoe Club slalom group where represented in all division of canoe slalom taking place at Bala on the river Tryweryn in North Wales over the weekend.
The events where held at two locations on the river. The premier and division 1 event were held on the graveyard section on the river which is fast flowing and plunges down steep drops combined with tricky, boulder-strewn sections. Bala Mill is a mor
e sedate section of the river. It is still fast flowing but free of boulder. The course starts with a tongue of fast water followed by some quick eddies and features then a steady flow to the finish
Laura Sargent came 10 in the premier event taking place on the graveyard section on the Saturday with Kimberley Woods achieving 31st from 45 in an all classes judges event.
On the Sunday at the same venue Kimberley Woods came 7th and Julie Foster came 28th from a field of 29 achieving her best result so far this season in Division 1. Paul Sergeant was in 23rd place from an entry of 65 boats. This was another consistent result for Paul putting him in 10th place in the national division 1 rankings.
At the Bala mill site further down the river Paul and Danielle Beever were competing at the division 2 event on both Saturday and Sunday. Paul came 32 and 24 respectively while Danielle came 20 and 8, the 8th place being her best result so far this season.
At the same event on the Saturday Kimberley Woods and Richard Davies managed 6th in the division 2/3 C2 class and Julie Foster came 7th in the division 3 C1 class.
