This weekend MI Racing sponsored by Thule cycle carriers promoted the LVRC 2008 National Road Race championships for all age categories from 40 years old to over 75 years old attracting entries from over 250 riders throughout the UK.
Eight age categorised events were held over two days on a tough circuit based around the Napton, Priors Marston, Badby, Staverton and Southam.

On Saturday 3 races for the age groups 50-54, 55-59 and 60-64 were held and all had deserving winners i
n John French (Peterborough), Alan Kemp (Weaver Valley, Liverpool) and Les West (Stoke-on -Trent).

Sundays races were for the age categories 40-44, 45-49, 65-69 and 70 plus which were won by Ben Luckwell (Bristol), Paul Stubbs (MI Racing, but based in Durham); Tony Woodcock (London) and Ralph Walker (Macclesfield).

The promoting club featured significantly with Paul Stubbs winning 45-49 year old age group race in a two up sprint up the tough finishing hill at Napton with Andy Eagers from Derby with Phil Wilkins (MI Racing, Nottingham) being place 6th. In the 40-44 year old race Geoff Giddings (MI Racing, Nottingham) narrowly missed victory being outsprinted by professional Ben Luckwell when he finished as part of a 3 man breakaway in his race, third being former Coventry Olympic rider Roy Chamberlain who now rides for Corley Cycles in Milton Keynes. Second place was also the position of Mick Ives (MI Racing, Baginton, Coventry) who was also part of a three up break at the end of the 65-69 year old age group which was won by former world champion Tony Woodcock of the London based Glendene racing team, Derek Woodings of MI Racing but lives in Derby left the bunch on the last lap and came home in fourth place in this race also. In the over 70 year old race, the pre-race favourite the promoting clubs Jack Watson (current national handicap road race champion, and bronze medallist at the 2007 UCI Road Race championships) had a 3 minute late start due to a mechanical problem but still managed to storm through the field catching all but the leader to finish in the silver medal position.

The event was gifted fine weather between the storms producing quite a crowd at the finishing line resulting in an exciting atmosphere at the end of all races.

The venue for the headquarters, Napton Victory club proved to be perfect with excellent catering and the provision of a 1930 Bedford bus supplied by the Coventry Transport Museum with an open side and awning for use as a pre-race riders registration and post race prize presentation faculty, providing a very continental image to the weekends events.

MI Racing have already this year promoted both the National Handicap Road Race championships and all the age category road race championships (8 races) as well as assisting in the National circuit race championships and are scheduled to promote both the LVRC National Hill climb and the Time Trial championships on 5th October and the 16th October respectively.
