News from Rugby, Hellidon Lakes, Whitefields and Ansty
Rugby Golf Club
The Fuller Cup in which players have upto five rounds of golf with their best score counting for each hole less half their handicap and then a medal round at the end was won by Andy Walsh with a combined total of 11
7.5 (53.5 & nett 64 in the medal) In second place was Bob James with 119.5 (56.5 & 63) and Chris Anderson was third with 120.5 (56.5 & 64). Two of the leaders from the first five rounds were Steve Hamp with 53.5 and Phil Horner with 54.0 but both fell away in the medal round.

The Medal Cup was won by Roland Slassor with a nett 60 just pipping Chris Anderson who had a nett 61. matt bell was third with a nett 63. Both the winner and runner up saw their respective handicaps reduced by two shots.

Rugby Golf Club is holding a Mens Open Texas Scramble on Monday, November 10 with tee times between 08.30 and 10.30. Teams of 4 players £14 per player which includes Hot Soup after nine holes a one course meal after the round, a pint of Carling C2 and a prize table for the first three teams. During the winter Rugby Golf Club is also running a series of Monthly Men's Betterball Pairs Opens on a Thursday which are scheduled for October 23, November 20,
December 18, January 29, February 26 and March 26. Entry fee is £25 per player and this includes bacon bap and coffee on arrival, 18 holes of golf, three course meal and prize table. Rugby Golf Club Seniors Team have qualified for the Final of the National Seniors Golf Association with a 3-2 victory over West Herts. Danny Ramshaw winning the match on a play-off hole after he and Malc Jessop had both won
and John Marshall and Gordon Coulthard had lost.

Hellidon Lakes
Hellidon Lakes Roxburgh House Cup was played for over the last weekend in september. This is a competition for the year's winners to determine the champion of champions .
This year's victor was Simon Griffin with a nett total off 143, three strokes ahead of David Sadler who in turn was three strokes ahead of Paul King in third with Frazer Duffy a shot further back in fourth.

Whitefields Golf Club
In the Marie Youds Charity Golf Day, Les Allen from Coventry Hearsall coasted round in two under par gross, to record 44 points and win the competition by three points from Whitefields member Graham Smith. Colin Young and Mark Ellis both recorded 40 points with Greg McBain finishing on 37. In the ladies section Kath Coleman produced the best back 9 to beat Kenilworth's Di Lee after both returned 33 points. Tibia Jardin and lady captain Bev Bates shot 32 each, Tibia winning on better back 9. The day raised £835, which will be divided between MacMillan Nurses and the Heart Link Charities.

132 ladies from 25 golf clubs took part in the annual Open Better Ball competition and the scoring was pretty good, especially from the pairing of Lillian Pilkington and June Hartopp, both from Lutterworth, who won the event with 44 points. In second place were Brenda Galsworthy and Veronica Cushing from Kenilworth on 43, while Maxstokes' Mary Moffat and Lynn Davies came third on 42. £360 was raised on the day, which will go to the NSPCC.

Derek Osbourn won the October Stableford with 37 points, he beat Ian Lynch, also with 37, on the back 9. Kevin Shorrocks just missed out with 36.

Colin Odwell beat his dad Graham in the Midweek Stableford both scoring 33 points, Colin produced the better back 9.

The Gold Ball is usually the last Major of the season but not this year as the Club Championship has still to be played, due to being postponed through adverse weather conditions. The winner of the Gold Ball was Ron Legate, who posted a superb 41 points, his nearest rival Matt Pullman carded 36.

Ansty Golf Centre Club Competition Results
September Mid-Week Stableford: 1 William Bell, 34 points; 2 Paul Gallimore, 31 points; 3 Mike Scrimshire, 30 points.
Andrew Morton Memorial Trophy: 1 Neil Mansell, 37 points (back 9); 2 Rob Rushten, 37 points; 3 Terry Astill, 35 points; 4 Martin Prince, 34 points; 5 Tim Gatherum, 33 points; Gross: Jon Wetton, 34 points.
