James Webb secured third on the podium and the Driver of the Weekend award at Shennington.
Saturday practice was only three sessions to set up the kart for the before first heat of the weekend.
James was struggling withl the handling of the kart and the power was down compared to the other competitors.
The first heat was a disaster the race started only to be stopped as one kart was rolled and a driver was injured, once the race restarted James was taken out and finished the race last with a heavily damaged kart.
It was a difficult decision to repair the kart or call it a day, after a long discussion the decision was to work late into the night to repair and reset the whole kart.
Sunday first heat was a massive difference the changes in the chassis were perfect allowing James to race at full power with plenty of grip.
The first heat starting in 6th he powered his way through to 3rd and the second heat from 20th through to 5th with some fantastic driving.
The final James started on tenth due to the first heat crash, as the race started James put the kart down the inside and took 3 karts in one corner giving him a chance to hang onto the leaders.
Lap after lap James got quicker closing in on the pack, on the sixth lap James made a challenge on sixth place continued at each corner to out brake and pass further karts.
On the ninth lap James pushed into 3rd place with only a hundredth of a second between 1st and third place.
James held on to finish on the podium 3rd place.
The meeting attracted 247 drivers from all over the country and a annual trophy is awarded to the best driver out of all the classes.
The team could not believe when the chairman announced James Webb as the 2009 winner….fantastic and thoroughly deserved !
