POLO: Kirtlington tournament
Victory All Round For Rugby Polo Club.
Rugby Polo Club travelled to Kirtlington Park Polo Club last week with two teams.
10 teams entered the tournament that was played over last week. Holy Sloan, Stuart Hickman, Philip Baker and Ben Hickman made up Kingsbridge Polo Team. The were up against the favourites on their first day of play and beat them in extra time with the golden goal scored by Holy Sloan. Dawson Group Polo Team, James Hudson, Freya Dawson, David Baker and Glynn Henderson, won with a convincing win against West Wycombe, beating them 8-3.
The next day Kingsbridge had yet another tough game and won by half a goal setting them up for the final. That left Dawson Group to win their draw against the Kirtlington Home team. Dawson Group had a brilliant game playing some of their best polo in the tournament, winning by 3 and half goals. This set up a final between the two Rugby Polo Club Teams. The first chukka was neck and neck and Dawson Group got a 1-goal lead. However in the 2 chukkas Kingsbridge got some well-worked goals through some crafty work by Philip Baker and got 3 goals in front. David Baker in the 3rd chukka converted some big penalties and got back to within a goal. The fourth chukka Kingsbridge had the upper hand and won the final with a well-deserved 8-6 victory.
Rugby Polo Clubs next tournament will be held this weekend with the finals on Sunday 18th May. Entry is free and all spectators are welcome. For details of all Rugby Polo Clubs events you can log on to www.rugbypoloclub.com or contact the office on 01788 817724.
