Results from the week on court
PAM BOND'S SCHOOL
of TENNIS

Last Saturday morning saw a large turnout of youngsters at the Rugby School Courts for both tennis coaching and tournament.
It was great to welcome six newcomers who enjoyed being organised for matches.
Louis Philippe Delaugere played some sparkling tennis to just beat Gareth Davies in the semi-finals. His brother, Jacques Delaugere, played very consistently to beat Michael Bentham in the other semi. The all-brother final result was a win for Louis who became this week's Division One Champion.
Division 2 semi-finals were very close matches with David Manklow beating James Scott and Joshua Bates beating Ben Hawkins. Joshua upped his level in the final to record a good win over David and become Division 2 Champion.
New teenagers to Saturday tennis Luke Thornton, Shozab Mohammed, Matthew Merrick, Alex Overton, Oliver Hawkins and Jonny Townsend had a super round-robin to see who was the prize winner in Division 3. Oliver Hawkins was the champion with five wins, Matthew Merrick was runner-up with four wins and Shozab Mohammed was third with three wins. Well done guys.
Division 4 had six players in a round-robin format. Daniel Heathcote played superbly to win all five of his matches to take top spot. Andrew Love was runner-up with four wins.
Finally, Division 5 winner was a very happy Ran Scott with four wins. Andre Chan was a worthy runner-up with three wins and Edward Paine was third.

The next tournament will be on Saturday (July 19) from 10-12.30pm. Coaching for all abilities 9-10am with rackets provided. Just turn up at the Rugby School Courts or call Pam Bond on Rugby 810589. July 26 will be the final Saturday morning. Tennis will resume September 13.

Jake Hersey had a successful weekend of mini orange tennis. He won all six matches and the tournament at Sutton Coldfield on Saturday, and then came third is an orange grand prix tournament at Esporta on Sunday.
Jake won five tough matches but lost out in a very close semi final 6-8 7-2 6-8 to the eventual winner. He then returned to court to win the third place play off to complete an enjoyable weekend's tennis.

Mini Red League Final
Ben Stuchbury, Eoin Trigg, Veronika Gabinet and Charlotte Carlisle went to Esporta last Sunday to play in the semi finals. The team did very well to qualify not losing one round on the way. The other semi finalists were very strong and we were up against some tough opposition.
We faced Leamington first, the girls managed to win their singles but the boys had some tough games, although they both played well. The result was a win for Leamington 8-2. We then had to play Shipston for the 3rd and 4th place play off.
This was a lot closer in the overall result and all the players were having some long rallies and playing well tactically. The final result was 6-4 to Shipston. Many thanks to the team for playing and well done.
