SCHOOLS from Rugby had the chance to showcase their political X-factor as part of the Local Democracy Campaign.
It was a close call but Rugby High School's Rose Jakeman and Letty Newton came out top of the competition, narrowly beating Lawrence Sheriff School and Avon Valley School.
They battled fiercely on arguments for and against recycling issues and reducing the voting age to 16.
Local councillors judged the debate, which was chaired by council leader Cllr. Craig Humphrey at Rugby's Town Hall.
This means that Rugby High School will take part in the Grand Finale at Warwickshire's Shire Hall today (Thursday) and will hope to be crowned Warwickshire's School Debating Champions 2007.
The Grand Finale will be followed by a Question Time session that will give young people a chance to grill local politicians such as Jeremy Wright and MEP Mike Natrass.
The Local Democracy Campaign has been taking place to help young people become more politically aware and a chance to voice their opinions.
